Contribution, however small, creates real value.
I planned and organized the annual student volunteer team recruitment campaign, from promotion scheduling to final selection. I hosted offline recruitment talks and conducted interviews with candidates, evaluating motivation and fit, and recruited and onboarded 4 new student volunteers. Leading a whole department taught me that leadership is mostly preparation: the smoother the plan, the braver the team.
I collected and managed volunteer information and assigned tasks across the program to keep activities on schedule. I organized volunteers to run interactive games and reading sessions for children in the local community, and personally provided tutoring for 25 children, improving their reading interest and comprehension ability. This experience showed me that patience scales: the same calm that fixes a buggy circuit also settles a restless classroom.
As part of the volunteer team at the Huairou Marathon, I helped keep runners supplied, directed, and cheered on from before sunrise. Standing at the course edge watching thousands of people push past their limits was its own lesson in endurance.
These experiences took me out of my comfort zone. Working with people from different backgrounds improved my communication skills and taught me that contribution, however small, creates real value.
