Project Description

This digital story was my project for the college English course. The task was to tell a meaningful personal story using video, images, music, and narration — entirely in English.

My story is about Zhang Jiacheng, the one-armed teenage basketball player whose videos moved millions in China. It portrays his journey of overcoming hardship and holding on to his basketball dream. I chose this topic because his story asks a question I face in my own studies: when the odds are stacked against you, do you lower the dream — or raise the effort?

What I Did

I was responsible for video generation and post-production: I used AI tools to generate the visual materials and the English dubbing, then handled the editing, color grading, subtitles, and audio-visual synchronization, delivering a short film with a complete narrative and fluent voice-over.

Reflection

Creating this video taught me far more than video editing. This project was my first experience using AI generation tools across an entire creative pipeline — from script to picture, from dubbing to final cut. Writing the script in English pushed me to express emotions precisely; checking the AI dubbing line by line trained my ear for rhythm and pronunciation; and editing taught me that a good story needs rhythm, not just content. We polished the script and checked the dubbing line by line to make the final film both moving and linguistically authentic. If I did it again, I would plan the shot list before generating any footage — a storyboard first would have saved hours of rework.
